Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Dafined (“we”, “us”) operates a vertical-intelligence platform that publishes business opportunity signals from approved public and commercial sources. We are based in British Columbia, Canada. For any privacy question or request, contact privacy@dafined.com.

2. The two kinds of data we handle

a) Business facts we collect from sources

Our engine collects uncopyrightable business facts (e.g. business names, commercial locations, licence/permit categories, event dates) from explicitly approved, publicly accessible sources. By design, we filter sensitive personal data before storage. Personal emails, phone numbers, and sensitive attributes are dropped, and bare individual names are generalized where appropriate. We do not build profiles of individuals and are not a consumer data broker.

b) Account data you give us

When you create an account we process your email address and authentication metadata (via our auth provider, Supabase), your subscription tier and status, saved filters/alert preferences, and standard technical logs (IP, timestamps, request metadata) used for security and rate limiting. Payment is handled by Stripe; we do not store full card details.

3. How we use data

To operate and secure the service, authenticate you, deliver the feeds and features of your tier, process subscriptions, respond to support and privacy requests, and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell your account data.

4. Processors we rely on

We use a small set of service providers strictly to run the platform: Vercel (hosting), Supabase (database + authentication), Stripe (payments), Firecrawl (source retrieval), and email/monitoring providers. Each processes data only to provide its service to us.

5. Your rights & source removal

Subject to applicable law (including PIPEDA and, where relevant, GDPR/CCPA), you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account data. If you are a business or an individual and believe a published record should be corrected or removed, email privacy@dafined.com and we will review it under our source review process. We honor removal/opt-out requests for records within our control.

6. Retention & security

We keep account data while your account is active and as needed for legal/accounting purposes. Review logs record source and quality decisions without storing sensitive personal data. We apply reasonable technical and organizational safeguards; no method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure.

7. Cookies

We use only the cookies required to keep you signed in and to operate the service. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

8. Changes

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the “last updated” date above. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance.
